Why I Left …being Abused

By Dr. Jeanne King, Ph.D.

So they say don’t ask a question you’re not willing to answer. We appreciate your sharing. And yes, I’ll answer the question too.

I reached a point in my relationship with abuse in which I awakened to…

“And the day came…
when the desire to remain the same
was more painful than the risk to grow.” (Anaire Nin)

In plain English, my life was in danger. And the consequences of me allowing that danger were greater than what I envisioned in my exile (as the domestic violence shelters called it).

My ex and his agents had done all the damage I could endure. It was time to go.

For more on this see All But My Soul. It’s a wake up call for anyone in or thinking of entering into an abusive relationship.
