Have you ever noticed the subtle messages between and within individuals in abusive relationships.
Here’s a classic one (from the victim’s perspective): You’re Okay and I’m Not
The net result of this thinking is the victim finds her/himself striving to prove to their partner that they are indeed okay. But unconsciously to match the batterer’s perceptions of the victim, she/he displays their “not okayness.” Sound familiar?
