“You are backed into supervised or therapeutic visitation and your children are brainwashed to see you as ‘danger.’ The alienating parent cuts you out of your lost child’s life. When you realize there’s nothing to hold onto, you pack your personals, grab what’s left of your life and run.” Sounding familiar…?
Some people leave for a job, some move toward friends or family, and others leave to hold onto their sanity or criminal free record.

There are people who have been on our email list since its inception nearly five years ago. Many of these faithful readers are deeply rooted in the battered women’s movement. Some have asked, “Why are you trying to help people ‘fix’ relationships that many people urge you to flee?”
I say, “excellent question.” The answer has more to do with my getting back to who and what I am. It has more to do with the fact that we have re-focused our business to being the vehicle for making our most seasoned and sophisticated skills available to individuals in abusive relationships.

“There’s something I need from you…but, I know you probably will mess it up in your delivery.”
Imagine for a moment that you are on the receiving end of this. Do you think you would want to even try to deliver? I don’t think so, do you?
Chances are if you know partner abuse, you have stumbled on this from both ends. That’s right, you heard me. You have probably been on the receiving end of expecting you to mess up before you’re out of the gate. And you, too, have communicated the same message to your spouse who has a record for his mindlessness with respect to you and your feelings.
