Domestic violence comes in all shapes and sizes. It can be from those you sleep with…to those you nursed in their young…to those who gave you life itself. We see it all, and the dynamics are the same whether parent, child or spouse.
Some of the most painful cases are those that involve an abused parent and battering adult child. These parents come to us at their wits end.

Life in an abusive relationship is painful. You feel oppressed, depressed and down right lifeless. It is as though the very spirit that glows from within is quashed.
You walk on eggshells when you are with the person that abuses you. There is no continuity…there is no stability. Rather, between you and this person, there is a state of flux in the context of huge hurts and a magnetic symbiotic connection.

“Her partner (or ex) had her arrested or has backed her into a psychiatric hospital against her will.” Sound familiar?
It is sickening. If I told you how many times I heard this story, you’d run at the thought of being in an abusive relationship.
